"I - 4 Competition".

Many thanks to all those that submitted.

We would like to announce John Killock's "The School of Lost Skills" as the competition winner. We believe its concept was the most revolutionary and mixed media animation production to be most effective.

Mentions are given to Architecture W's "Cone Runners" and Irina Igolnikov's "Absence Movie".

"I - 4 Competition" announced.

Competition aimed to develop the use of film as a platform for architecture design, debate and development.

The relationship between Architecture and Film is fundamental. Architecture inspires Film as much as movies have the potential to inspire Architecture. Classics such as Metropolis and Blade Runner help enthuse and fuel conceptual design ideas. While the media has begun to emerge as the most effective presentation format within the ever evolving industry.

Considering the development of current portable technologies the "I - 4 Competition" aims to allow architects to submit short movies under an architectural theme of their choice and within the media of moving picture or animation.

Entry - free

Prize - 200€ plus mentions

Submission Deadline - 22nd December 2011

´Unemployed Architect´ competition

Brief - Unemployed Architect?? surviving with a temporary job in MacDonalds or Starbucks or simply scratching yourself at home?? Never before have so many unemployed architects been infiltrating other industries to finance a living. Never before has there been the opportunity for so many architectural eyes to evaluate the efficiency of the design of the industry.

If you find that you are flippin´ burgers then stop to re-assess the design...why not place cows in the car park or chickens on the roof of a KFC??

Perhaps the next time on your trip to the benefits office you have a look at the city transport system where you live and improve its efficiency or even re-evaluate where your toilet faeces end up after you drop a bomb at home

The competition is to re-design or create a new design of a system which can be integrated within a building or city. There are no limits on ideas, however, the process must be thought through from start to finish with an element of practicality

Competition examples include:-

´Atelier Bow Wow´ roof bridge in Linz - where a walkway network has been integrated into a disused roof space

´Schweeb´ human powered monorails in Ngongotha - is both efficient and revolutionary, redefining the way humans travel

Underground Waste System - is not a new concept, however its simplicity has literally cleaned up waste management within city centre areas

Electric Vehicle charging in MacDonalds - not only are they trying to clean up their image, it seams MacDonalds are trying to clean up the motorways

Entrants must effectively integrate a new system or improve an existing one into a current building, city or landscape

The design may be revolutionary, may be simple, however it must be more than aesthetical with an element of efficiency, practicality and compatibility
